Family Physical Fitness

The second component of a Healthy Urban Living is consistent physical activity. According to 2010’s Georgia State Nutrition, Physical Activity and Obesity Profile, 25% of Georgia’s adult reported not participating in physical activity in the past month. While only 23.7% of youth were physically active for at least 60 minutes per day.  RMRSI seeks to significantly impact these statistics by implementing onsite physical fitness activities for both youth and adults.

Castleberry Youth Soccer and Lacrosse Club

Castleberry Soccer and Lacrosse Clubs are RMRSI’s answer to providing ways for youth to “get up and move”. According to U.S. Soccer Players.com, soccer offers one of the best ways, if not the best way, for a child to get in top physical shape through participation in a youth sport. The average soccer player runs approximately seven miles throughout the course of the game; the mix of sprinting with endurance running develops long and short muscle fibers as well as anaerobic capabilities. While playing lacrosse improves flexibility, cardiovascular capability, body composition (lowering the percentage of body fat while increasing muscle mass) and does not jar the body in the way that basketball or baseball can do.

Castleberry Crossfit

RMRSI seeks to provide our adult participants with a crossfit style physical fitness program. This program will run in 8 week cycles and will be seasonally tailored. During the cold season we will host inside aerobic activities to including step aerobics and Zumba. While during the warmer months many of the activities will be held outside on our soccer field or around the community. Participant’s vital signs will be tracked for progress.
